So here comes tale of colleagues to friends to travel mates & then to one of the best friend  & finally to mommies.

You could find many friends on this earth but the grasp of true friends who are not just besides you in the happy times but there to second you every moment, whether good or bad are the true friends whom you back on forever.

Such is our friendship, which started from normal group washroom gossip from dresses to bosses to in-laws ;). It was indeed a very slow motion friendship moving ahead with having lunches together to playing Table tennis in free office time. Suddenly we cracked some familiarity with each other, from the basic nature to the end objectives of life, all seemed to match with each other. Good liasoning was the main factor which made us both close together.

Yes both of us were married by then, but suddenly my husband decided to make a move to another city & so I had to follow him. But moving away from each other never left us shattered, we continued our long gossips in whatever meager time we had.

Meeting each other had become difficult hence we thought to enhance our friendship circles & drove it by planning a quick getaway trip with our better-half’! As the luck would have it, both the males instantly got along with each other, rejoicing every bit of our journey from hiking to playing to swimming to rafting. Not even for a moment it felt that it was the first outing & meeting together. This was the point which actually strengthened our bond all the more.

There was no turning back; we all started having small trips together, enjoying each other’s company all the more.  I still remember it was in Jan’2014, evening 7 pm when all of a sudden both of us spoke instantly..”I’m expecting”.. What?? What?? Yes, OMG you too.. WOW, that was really brilliant, our minds & hearts were all in such synchronization & not to miss, both of us had nearly same dates, just 10-12 days of difference!

Our bond grew more close, sharing the baby bump pictures, caring more for each other, sharing our doctors conversations, what to eat, what not to.. Suddenly the world had changes so much, those are the months when you are at your maximum emotional turmoil’s & then it was I realized ours as a true friendship.. No grudges, No qualms, just understanding & caring for each other.

Delivery date was shivering me, it was she, who was herself in that mode but always encouraged me to be strong, to have the feeling of motherhood, to be positive & within the span of 15 days both of us gave birth to lovely boys, Arham & Arjun! It’s said that motherhood is a new birth for mother as well & indeed it was a re-birth of our friendship as well. If it brings out the other side of a woman in the form of compassion, love, tenderness it also brings us across numerous challenges & you know there needs to be a strong support apart from your family who understands you & I can proudly say that it was her for me!

It’s been 2 years now that our babies are in our lives, relations take a toll, but for us nothing has changed. We are yet the same pals who care for each other, still plan trips together with kids now, eat, laugh & play together. Life has become happier with you dear friend!

Dedicated to our friendship …”Jab life ho out of control, hoton to karke gol…Seeti baja ke bol…All is well”, we know we are & will be always together & till the time it remains , life will be always be in

Well, out of this, a lot more focus is on the diet part these days, with the problems of obesity highlighting frequently in the youngsters. Reasons, mainly Junk food, lack of outdoor activities, ignorance towards whole grain foods.

Since kids ,we have been brought up in a very open environment but when it came to eating part ,it was a very strict routine with all nutrients to be taken in one form or the other .Since then ,a balanced diet played a very important role in my life .

Few of the reasons citing importance of a Balanced diet :

1. Happy Mind & Soul : What we eat ,have a direct relation on the brain & its activity .Reason behind -foods release many enzymes ,few of which enhance the moods ,energizes it, while few do not add any value except increase in Fat content. Healthy food means better quality of re-fuel to the brain so, better the quality, more is the productivity.
2. Immune Development & Lesser Stress: Vitamins, Minerals, Fats, Proteins are all essential & certain quantity has to be taken daily to have a balanced body & metabolism. Also, some foods help relieving the stress as foods rich in Vitamin C, Magnesium, Omega-3 by releasing stress reducing hormones & giving a feeling of freshness.
3. Important for maintaining a better weight : increasing the intake of diets as whole grains ,fruits, sprouts ,light boiled vegetables help one maintain optimum weight ,as it reduces the intake of fried & low-nutrient eatables ,which just increase the Fat & Calorie intake while providing zero nutrition.
4. A healthy heart :Above mentioned foods as whole grains ,fibres ,fruits ,not only control body weight ,but also maintain an optimum Blood Pressure & reduce Cholesterol leading to healthy heart!

It’s very popular these days, with the absence of quality time, most of us instead of refraining to Fried /Junk food, are more into it. Hungry? Here we go to have a cheese burger & sip soda/cold drink .These heavy breads ,oily foods ,chaat corners are not just providing enough sensation to taste buds but these are the major reasons for an unhealthy heart & when the waist line starts to increase we consult with our friends & pounce on “Crash Diets”.
So what are crash diets & how do they “Put body in stress” rather than making it healthier?
Sudden aerobics, fasting or relying just on protein diet, or just a lemonade diet or some soupy diet, detoxification programs are a part of crash diets & they prove serious damage to our body.

It can lead to –
1. Improper Metabolism -restriction of regular calories result in lowering of the metabolism & turning of blood fats into body fats & this starts working against us. After a while when one switch to normal eating again, you bounce back & gain more weight because of the low calorie benchmark which was set earlier.
2. Loss of Good Fat: crash diets not only cut on bad fats but good high level fats as well, which might impair the proper metabolism, resulting in loss of essential fatty acids which are important for for wear & tear.
3. Increase in Insulin: Due to low calorie intake while on crash diets, there can be a dip in the blood sugar level, resulting in increase in the hunger. Increased hunger can lead to extra intake of carbohydrates if not fats, which trigger body insulin levels & again an increase in extra fat storage.
4. Impact on Heart: Crash diets have serious impact on heart if done very frequently by increasing the risk of dehydration, heart palpitations & sudden cardiac arrests along with damage to blood vessels.

So with that much of scientific knowledge, let’s turn back to healthy lifestyle & follow the diet our elders did..A glass of lemon juice or Lemon juice & honey in the morning ,Fruits & milk for breakfast ,healthy (not extra cooked) green vegetables for lunch ,curd ,whole grains ,all should be an important part of daily lives.

Well, everyone in this world wants their looks & smile to be the most beautiful & glamorous! But behind this smiling face, it is the glittering teeth that actually sparkle up your face.  Oral care is a major aspect which needs utmost attention once we start teething for the very first time & thereafter. It is generally said that healthy mouth is a reflection of healthy body & a good oral care can prevent many diseases.

Poor Oral health can lead to many problems specially swollen gums leading to tooth decay/Loss of tooth, Infected mouth is a passage for numerous bacterial infections which puts less immune people on high risk of various organ damages. It can also lead to intestinal problems as Indigestion, painful bowel, again leading to other organ failures. Mouth Ulcers have become so common, hence utmost care is a must & for that habits need to be inculcated in kids from the very beginning.

Myself being a mother of kid, Teething plays an important role & would get few points mentioned below as a part of daily routine for my kid –

  1. Before appearance of those little white teeth, once your kid starts semi solids, do clean his gums by baby toothbrush. Once ,teeth appear ,it must be a regular habit to brush twice a day ,once in morning & once before bed time (try avoiding any food post brushing has been done)
  2. Flossing can also be started when your kid turns 1.5 yrs or when more than 4 teeth appear ,flossing is helpful in removing plaques which is a must
  3. Try using fluorinated toothpaste as it prevents cavities
  4. Babies going to bed with a bottle of milk /juice in their mouth ,will lead to severe tooth decay ,as particles of formula/sugar remain in the mouth ,stick to teeth ,generate bacteria’s that result in decay. Even prolonged use of sipper/Pacifiers should be avoided.
  5. In case of any medication going on, keep a check if the same is sugary, as this can result in increased chances of decay, so increase in brushing & Flossing is a must.
  6. Diet also plays an important role ,as limit sugary/starchy foods/Chocolates intake as they produce acids which in turn lead to tooth decay .Increase intake of Fruits & foods rich in Vitamin A,C ,which keeps gums healthy.
  7. Regular dental checkup is a must to initiate any preventive action at the earliest.
